On July 31, 2018, Forbes China released 2018 China Philanthropist List, on which the Board Chairman Lu Zhiqiang ranked 7th with a total cash donation of RMB 730 million.

The 2018 Forbes China Philanthropist List summarized the cash donations made by Chinese private entrepreneurs and enterprises to the public charity field in 2017, and calculated the total amount of donations by the aforesaid entrepreneurs and their enterprises. One hundred entrepreneurs were on the list this year, and the cash donations amounted to RMB 17.31 billion.

In 2017, China Oceanwide Holdings Group made several donations in the fields of poverty alleviation and education. Among them, the Group sponsored 100,000 newly enrolled underprivileged university students in ten cities and provinces with RMB 500 million under the "Oceanwide Education Aid Program" and donated RMB 100 million to Central South University Education Foundation. In addition, Oceanwide also actively participated in campaigns of accurate poverty alleviation including "10,000 enterprises assisting 10,000 villages." The listing company Oceanwide Holdings subordinate to the Group and its subsidiaries Minsheng Securities and Asia-Pacific Property and Casualty Insurance also supported the accurate poverty alleviation through donations.

According to Forbes, private entrepreneurs shall have the sense of social responsibility and repay society, and many private enterprises have formed the corporate responsibility culture characterized by charity. The sound and balanced development of the main business and philanthropy can be realized through scientific planning and management. More and more entrepreneurs have established their own foundations, or made charitable donations to the society by establishing foundations in the charity federation.

Since its establishment, Oceanwide has successively invested in the establishment of Oceanwide Foundation, China Arts Foundation and Shandong Oceanwide Foundation, following the concept of "from the society and for the society."
